12 weeks old and waving! He/she was so wiggly that it took a couple tries to detect the heartbeat :)
Thank you for the kind words!! It’s been a loooong 13 weeks of me having to keep my mouth shut about this. Haha. I’m so excited to finally be able to talk about it! I’ve gotten several questions so I chose to just answer them all in a post here.
Were you trying?
Yes, and no. We concieved very shortly after we decided we were ready for a baby. So yes, because we had just decided, but no because we didn’t think it would happen this soon. Either way though, we are over the moon excited.
How far along are you?
I will hit my 13 week mark on Sunday.
Boy or girl? What do you want? What do you think you’re having?
It’s obviously too soon to know the sex so we don’t know. Jimmy says he doesn’t have a preference and is just excited…as for me, I was really wanting a girl, but I’m at a place now where I’ll be completely happy with either. As for what we think…I’m not sure. I haven’t had that strong intuition feeling just yet, like some pregnant women do. The chinese gender chart says it’s gonna be a girl, but old wives tales that I’ve looked up mostly lean towards it being a boy. So who knows.
How are you feeling?
I have been blessed with a very easy pregnancy so far (just some nausea and no vomiting at all). I do still feel gross sometimes and still have some food adversions, but for the most part, it was so much easier than I thought it would be. (Which leads my mother to believe we’re having a boy because she said she was miserable while pregnant with me).
Are you showing?
Ahhh…kind of? I don’t know though. My friends here say they see a tiny bump, but to me it just looks like I ate too much. Haha. At night it looks like I have a bump, but when I wake up in the morning with no food in my tummy my stomach looks flat. I might start showing soon however, because I’m short and petite. I’ve been taking progress pictures so I’ll post them soon.
How much weight have you gained?
According to the scale whenever I go to the doctor, 2 lbs total in the first trimester.
Are you scared?
Of course. I can tell you right now that I know hardly anything about babies or pregnancy, but I’m excited to learn as I go!
Was anyone unsupportive when they heard the news?
Not so much as unsupportive…but, didn’t really seem to care or congratulate us. Certain family members and such. I wasn’t really expecting them to anyway, which made it easy to brush off. Some people just don’t get excited about things like that, and plus, it’s not like we are the first people in the world to get pregnant ;)
Can you guess which questions were asked by anons? Hah.
